SYMCC Round 4 Report

     Scottish Youth Motocross Club held round 4 of its club championship at Shiplaw, near Peebles in the Scottish Borders. Track looked great, after having had a good soaking with the rain on the Saturday night, and with the weather mostly dry(with the odd shower!) was set for a cracking days racing.

     First round the track was the auto class, with Scott Russell showing the field how its done ? taking the overall with three straight race wins. Second and third places were a bit of a mixture through the three races with Lyle Crothers, Dylan Graham and Lewis Dow fighting for vital points. Lewis Dow claimed the 2nd position, and Lyle Crothers took 3rd.

     In the 65cc class, Elaine MacEachern took the overall win with two race wins, a tumble and puncture in the last race denying her the third win. Aaron MacDonald was consistent through the day taking 2nd overall, and 2nd place in all three races. Ryan Archibald took the third race win, and 3rd in the overall placings.

     The small wheel 85cc class overall win was taken by John Adamson, who proved unbeatable on the day and took all three race wins. Greg Queen took the 2nd place overall, secured with two 2nd place finishes in the second and third race. Jay Lamb took 3rd place.

     For the big wheel 85cc class, Ian Stewart took the overall win, with two race wins through the day. Second and third places were decided in the last race, with William Lambie taking the win and 2nd place overall. Blaine McNally took the 3rd spot.

     Steven Craig took the youth 125cc class overall, and three race wins, after some close racing between him and David Houston, one race was decided by less than one second! David Houston took three 2nd race placements, and 2nd overall. Third place was also left to be decided in the last race, with Russell Valentine and Harry Cooper fighting for points. Russell Valentine placed higher, and took 3rd overall.

     Adult 125cc class was won by Ryan McLean with three race wins and Mark Perfect took three 2nd places for 2nd overall. Daniel Monks continued the pattern and took 3rd overall, with 3rd place in all three races.

     Graham Blacklock was unstoppable in the adult open class, taking all three race wins by over a minute! Richard Houston rode consistently all day to take 2nd place. Stuart Whitelaw finished with 3rd place.

     Round 5 of the Club Championship is to held along side the last round(round 6) of the Scottish YMX Championship on the 19th & 20th of September.
