Scottish Youth Motocross Club Round 6

Report

     Well, what an end to the motocross season... SYMCC ran round 6, the final round of its Club championship, at Shiplaw Farm, near Peebles in the Scottish Borders. All riders turned up looking for vital points to wrap up their positions in the championship. The track looked very well prepared but with a few days of rain during the week leading up to the event, the track was wet to start with, but the weather held up – the sun came out and the track began to dry out through the day(although was quite rough by then!)

     First out to challenge the wet and slippery track were the auto's. Daniel Chisholm won all three races, to take the days overall. Jordan Gill was chasing behind, but couldn't quite catch Chisholm, and took second overall after securing second in two of the three races. Dylan Graham took the third spot.

     In the 65cc class, Elaine MacEachern took the days overall with two race wins. Second and third positions were decided by the third race, after Aaron MacDonald and Lewis Campbell were tied on points. MacDonald took the higher position, and the second overall. Campbell finished in third.

     The overall in the 85SW class was taken by Reece Wilson, with two race wins. Frazer Pohlen secured second place, with two second place finishes. Greg Queen took the third race win, but it wasn't enough to catch Pohlen, and ended in third overall.

     Stuart Robertson secured the overall in the 85BW class, by one point over Ian Stewart – who took second place, and two of the race wins. Andrew McNicol rode consistently with three third places, to take third overall.

     The Youth 125/250F class seen the most action throughout the day. Hannah McLeod looked to be in control after taking the first race win, but bike problems cut her day short. Stewart Treloar took the further two race wins to take the days overall. Jason Moore took the second overall. Blane McNally tried hard to pull back needed point after a poor first race – but just wasn't enough, ending 1 point behind Moore, and taking third overall.

     The Adult 125 class was won by Steven Craig, who took two of three race wins after battling hard with David Houston. Houston finished in second, and took the other race win. Steven Sangster took two third place race finishes, to take the third spot overall.

     The Adult Open class was dominated by Richard Houston, who took all three race wins. Second and third places were a bit closer, Ian Wilson and Paul Benham finished all three races with equal points, but Wilson finished with the higher placing in the third race to take the second overall. Benham finished in third.

     Well done to all championship riders this year. Club trophy's will be handed out at the presentation dance, to be held alongside the SACU YMX, GYMCC and Borders MX club presentation. Presentation is to be held at the Keavil House Hotel in Crossford, Dunfermline on Saturday 28th November. Tickets are priced at £20.00 for adults and £12.00 for under 12's and are available from club secretary's.
